Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Chimpanzee Habituation experience is very exciting to do as you get to stay in their presence for a full day. The adventure is one of the most intimate and educational wildlife experiences in Africa. This safari adventure is initially in Kibale Forest National Park offering you a chance to spend extended time (up to a full day) with chimpanzees that are still in the process of becoming accustomed to human presence.

Unlike chimpanzee trekking the chimpanzee habituation experience is exciting as you observe chimpanzees as they gradually learn to tolerate humans nearby. It’s raw, real and profoundly rewarding. Habituation is a long-term conservation and research process in which wild chimpanzees are slowly and carefully exposed to humans until they no longer perceive people as a threat.

The process can take 2–5 years and includes;

Research and behavioral studies

Long-term conservation planning

Creating future trekking groups without stressing the animals

As a visitor, you become a temporary participant in this scientific and conservation effort.

How the Experience Works
